A Message from our Executive Director
We at the American Heart Association are working hard to build healthier lives free of cardiovascular disease and stroke. Cardiovascular disease is the number one cause of death of men and women. But it doesn’t stop there. Congenital cardiovascular defects are the number one cause of birth defects in children born today and the leading cause of death of infants. With your help, we can change these devastating statistics.
The American Heart Association is working to make these changes possible through our support, funding, and implementation of research. As a result of this research, many medical advances have been discovered. Some examples of these advances are the development of CPR, pacemakers, by-pass surgery, artificial heart valves, life-extending drugs, and many more.
The AHA is also at work in our community through our advocacy outreach and community education. Next time you eat in a smoke free restaurant or enjoy a day at a smoke free beach, you can thank the AHA because these are just two of the results of our advocacy efforts. Next time you are at the grocery store, look for the Heart Check mark to help you decide on healthier choices. And if heart disease results in a hospital visit, feel confident that the AHA has established criteria and guidelines for cardiac treatment through our Get With the Guidelines program to ensure quality care.
Your support of the 29th Annual Heart-To-Heart Ball allows us to continue and expand our efforts to fight heart disease and stroke. As you consider becoming involved, know that you can be an integral part of helping others to live longer and healthier lives in Orange County. Together, we can make in impact today and for generations to come.
With heartfelt thanks,
Planning and Auction Committee Chairwoman
